Here are 4 excellent ways to to find and great books to read and ensure that you never run out of reading inspiration.
1. Find out what books inspired the people you admire.
A fantastic hack for discovering great books is to follow the reading habits of those you admire. Influential figures like Oprah, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk often share their favorite books, which can serve as excellent recommendations. Personally, I’ve found numerous gems through the reading list of Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett’s legendary partner. I have my own list, The Great Books List, containing of the best and most impactful books I’ve read over the past decades.
2. Let the books show the way.
Books themselves can be a great source of inspiration for further reading. Particularly in the nonfiction genre, books often reference other authors, intriguing research, and fascinating historical figures. It’s like peeling an onion—there’s always another layer to explore. Allow these references to inspire your own reading list.
3. Keep a reading list.
Jot down the books and topics that you are interested in exploring further. It’s convenient to have your reading list on your phone so that you can refer to it anytime you’re in search of new reading material. Read this my full guide for “How to create an exciting reading list” to find out more.
4. Join a book club.
Sometimes, you don’t know what you’ll enjoy until you give it a try. Joining a book club is an excellent way to diversify your reading and discover new and exciting topics. In a book club, each member selects books for the group, exposing you to titles you might not have chosen on your own. This experience can broaden your horizons and introduce you to new authors and areas of interest.
