Parallel Universes of Self says that, according to the “Parallel Worlds Theory”, that everything that can happen does. Universes branch into infinite versions with every possible event. Frederick Dodson claims that the parallel universe principle can be applied to your reality and be used to alter your everyday life. Sounds “out there”?! Let’s take a closer look at Parallel Universes of Self and why you should consider reading this book.
Attention is everything
We all use our attention and awareness in one way or another, often in similar ways each day. Fredrick Dodson is committed to show us that we are in charge of our reality and gives us all the tools we ever need to turn our awareness and intentions into wizards wand that can turn every desire into a reality. Sounds reasonable? Sounds out there. Let’s have a closer look at Parallel universes of Self
Attention and the Reticular Activating System
What we focus on we get more of. I remember when II saw Peter Jackson’s Tintin at the cinema, and for the rest of that week I saw Wire Fox Terriers everywhere. You have probably experience similar situations.
This is because of a function in our brain called the Reticular Activation System (RAS) RAS works as a gatekeeper between your senses and the brain and decides what goes through and not. Of course the dogs were always around, my brain just didn’t think about them as important before and filtered them out. Because I now had paid focused attention to Wire Fox Terriers in the Tintin movie, the RAS judged that these creatures must be important to me and let them pass through my RAS filter.
The fact the your RAS works this way has great implications for how you experience the world, and that’s where Parallel Universes Of Self come into the picture.
Parallel Universes of Self claim that you create your own reality. And you should go into this book with an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out. I bet a lot of you considered turning off this video as soon as I mentioned reality creation.
The books main point is that you can change your experience of your external world by eliminating and changing core beliefs about yourself, and refocusing your attention and intention towards what you want. By doing this the world will reflect your internal changes in a magical way. By being a different person you will get different results.
Taken to its extreme this practice is taken to mystical levels: what you believe you are inside will manifest in the external world.
“Understanding that everything real is illusion depending on the viewpoint you can trade unfavorable illusions for more favorable ones.”
A film can be an emotional experience, it can be pixels on a screen, it can be directors, producers and actors, or atoms dancing depending on your viewpoint.
The Law of Correspondence
One of the more controversial ideas in this book is that actions are only secondary to how you actually feel. . This means, in short, that the fastest way to create change in your life, the fulfilment of any desire, is to experience yourself and the world as it already has happened. This is the secret to reality creation; to start at the end.
”There is no other thing that operates independently of what you believe”.
The book has tons of exercises for how to do these shifts. How you shift reality.
The Perk of being irrational
One of the reasons I can’t discard reality creation as just irrational new age mumbo jumbo, is because I’ve seen it work in my own life too many times –and in such favorable ways– that it would be idiotic to disregard such an incredible source of magic. One reason I keep reading about the topic of manifestation is because the way reality creation is often described in books, is exactly how it has worked in my own life.
The typical example manifestation in my life is that when I put my energy towards something, believe it’s feasible (and because I’ve already seen evidence of reality creation working, I now even think a lot of improbable things are feasible). I commit to that reality, without expectations or forcing it, with a light heart and good mood, it usually comes to flourishing. Often in an unexpected way.
Personal account of Reality Creation
At one point, I decided to try out my luck as a voice actor for children’s shows on TV. It started as simple thought during a period when I watched a lot of cartoons with kids and then I mentioned the idea to a friend at party and he challenged me to act on my hunch, so I committed to do so.
I had never met anyone who worked in that profession and I had no idea how to get the job. But only a week later, at the release part of a video game I had been working on I found myself standing in a bar chatting away with some random guy. After he mentioned that he was an actor, I told him about my ambitions to get into doing voices for cartoons. Then told me that he actually did more voice work than actual acting.
It resulted not only in him sharing the best strategies for landing a voice job, but he also put me in contact with an agent and a promise to mentor me in my new career choice. This happened only one week after I decided on becoming a person who made voices for cartoon characters. And I have dozens of more examples of these kinds of synchronicities.
State and reality creation
But all these “manifestations” that I have experienced have one thing in common; they happened during periods where I felt good, lighthearted, playful and energized. When I’m not forcing it, and when I have no expectations. “When you stop chasing the world the world chases you.”Feeling good inside is the starting point”. Without it, magic doesn’t work.
Expect to meet resistance from the people around you.
When you choose a new reality for yourself and become a new person it’s expected that the people around you will react to the changes and they might even try to pull you back down to your old reality. Not everyone wants to see others change for the better, it could possibly shine a light on that person’s stagnant state, causing discomfort to them.
This is why peer pressure, assumed beliefs about what YOU think others expect from you can drag you out of alignment with you newly claimed reality. “This is where the stress lies, whenever you experience pressure it’s probably based on a core belief about what someone else is supposedly expecting from you. Although the circumstances have completely changed since your childhood these beliefs are still operating on some level.” Persistently resting in your chosen reality mean doing so despite disapproval from others and society.
Takeaway: The Intention List
An Intention List is a list you write in the past tense, as if it already happened. Make it a list of things you want, intent or don’t mind happening. Both small and big things, realistic and unrealistic, and general or specific.
This exercise obscures the differences between things you label as realistic and unrealistic. It also calibrates you focus and attention, and since it’s in past tense, you describe the action as already being done, it’s less daunting than than a traditional to-do-list. And try to let go of the expectations that these things must happen.
Intention list example:
- Took the car for repairs.
- Got my hair cut.
- Met someone very interesting.
- Surprisingly got 4 new customers.
- Gave Helena more love than she has ever received.
- I got money unexpectedly.
- I felt well rested and had a lot of energy.
- My sick dog recovered.
- I had an out-of-body experience.
- I had a vivid dream that showed me hints of my next move in business.
The only reason we keep experiencing the same thing over and over again is because we use attention the same way. Switch you attention and experience a new world.
Book Verdict: Parallel Universes of Self
You want a book to lift your spirits? This is it. Parallel Universes of Self was an instant energy boost, and I immediately reread the book after I finished it. And actually read 3 times already.
It’s totally bonkers from one perspective, but also totally wonderful and practical from another perspective. If you dare to wander out of your comfort zone and let go of the status quo-understanding of how reality works, then you might find this book the most valuable tool possible for achieving your dreams and desires.
I will recommend this book based on the results it has provided. I have been experimenting with the techniques in this book for a couple of months now and it has yielded such interesting results that I will continue reality surfing indefinitely. Life is just more fun, surprising and magical with this mindset. Even if mainstream-thinking would call it utter delusional.
If you feel stuck in a rut, open for new ideas, or just want to take a break from the seriousness of mainstream reality, then try out this book! It can be a game changer! Im adding it to my Great Books List – a list of all the most impactful books I’ve ever read.

I think you should read either Parallel Universes of Self and Levels of Energy first. Parallel Universes of Self is about creating your own reality (Manifestation/Reality Creation), and Levels of Energy describes The premise of this book is that there are clearly definable energy levels and that each level corresponds with specific emotional, mental and physical realities. Start with the one that sounds most interesting to you.
Not really, but the Parallel Universes of Self refers to the energy scale described in Levels of Energy a couple of time throughout the book.
